Health and Safety

At Walters we take Health and Safety extremely seriously and have an enviable Health and Safety record. We have currently worked in excess of 2 million (December 2011) man hours since our last RIDDOR.

This record is testament to our belief that detailed and informed planning and careful programming of demolition projects at the pre-contract stage, together with careful programming and a hands on proactive approach during site operations leads to a safer and successful project for all involved.

We work closely with our clients and other project stakeholders to ensure that the works are carried out in a safe, controlled and timely manner by providing detailed method statements and comprehensive risk assessments to all parties prior to commencement of the works.

We work hard to develop methods of work that reduce or eliminate the need for our operatives to work in close quarters to the structures that we are demolishing thereby removing many of the risks that are inherent in demolition work.

Our ongoing investment in our plant fleet and cutting edge range of demolition attachments and ancillary equipment allows us to undertake much of our work mechanically in an efficient, controlled and safe manner.

Our Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems assist out site teams with ensuring that our projects are professionally managed and our excellent safety record is maintained.

Regular site inspections and internal audits of our site systems by our Site Managers, Group Safety Officer and our Directors ensure that our high standards are maintained. Independent external audits are also undertaken regularly to maintain our ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 accreditation status.
