  • This project involved widening of 600m carriageway within a very restricted area.

  • Protecting, working around and finally diverting numerous, highly sensitive WPD, BT and NTL apparatus.

  • The works also required the extension of two culverts and earthworks to widen cuttings and embankments.

  • Traffic Management was a key issue as there were serious concerns about congestion and tailbacks, particularly onto the A470.

  • We liaised with local residents regularly through letter drops keeping them informed of key events and progress of the works.

  • Widen the road carriageways on the Penrhos roundabout to provide for four lanes of traffic on the A468 Northbound approach.

  • The works also involved considerable alterations to drainage and renewing the streetlighting and road signs.

  • There were also some associated works on the B4600 Nantgarw Road towards Caerphilly, which involved provision of a footpath and a signal controlled crossing.
