Mercury was set up to construct for ASDA a 60,000 sq ft capacity
hypermarket superstore in Swansea Enterprise Park, Morriston,
Swansea.

The Main Contractor was Kajima UK Engineering Limited who committed
themselves to a construction programme of 19 weeks.

The superstore included the provision of all associated access
roads, car parks, service yards and landscaped areas, the site
being located at the former Morganite Works and in total covering
an area of 9 hectares.

The construction of the mezzanine floor slabs.
-
All the external grounds works roads, car parks, services and
landscaping.

The construction of the service yard including brickwork walls.

Temporary roads utilizing 2500t of tarmac, foundations and the
installation of 350lm of man size ducts under the proposed floor
slab completed in the first two weeks allowing steelwork erection
to commence, the value of this work exceeding £300,000.

Site monitored by the Building Research Establishment who recorded
production levels well in excess of UK average.

Works completed February to June 1999 in record time for a UK
store.

Walters UK were employed by Diamond Construction to carry out
all civil engineering and building works to the Petrol Station
to the value of £165,000 in a programme time of 10 weeks.
