- The
project involved the excavation and placing of 1.35 million m
sq shale to cap 3 major coal slurry lagoons covering 128 HA.
- Followed
by the placing of 0.40 million m sq of soil and soil making material
with cultivation, grass, heathland and tree planting.
- Together
with 5 years of aftercare.
- The
filling operation had to be undertaken with great skill and care
as the lagoons were effectively in a liquid form.
- At
peak 40 machines were deployed on the project and maximum
outputs of 100,000m sq per week were achieved.
- The
overall works was completed some 40 weeks ahead of the two year
programme.
