- Demolition
of reinforced concrete outbuildings which formed part of the old
cement works.

Demolition of underground hoppers and contaminated storage bunkers
constructed of reinforced concrete up to 8m deep.

Movement of 200,000m3 of asbestos contaminated material and capping
within a licensed area.
- Excavation,
placing and compaction of 500,000T of subsoil. Breaking up of
100,000T of concrete from foundations up to 8m deep, crushing
and stockpiling.

Extensive training and health surveillance programme initiated
for approx.
20 plant operators and groundworks involved in dealing with contaminated
material including asbestos.
- Import
of 120,000T of PFA and placement as a capping layer.

Removal of 30,000T of contaminated material to licensed tip. Installation
of 3000 lm of pipework, drainage channels and spillways.

Environmentally sensitive site with special consideration given
to birds and animals residing on the site during the remediation
process.

Close liaison on site with full time chemist in monitoring air
and water quality.
