- This
project was one of the Forestry Commission's South Wales Land
Stability works.
-
The scheme covered an area of 12.4 Ha on the site of a steep hillside.
-
It involved the re-siting and compaction of approx. 250,000m³
of colliery shale waste from the old Ty'n-y-Bedw
Colliery site.
-
Further works include the upgrading of and remedial works to the
drainage between the tip area and the Rhondda Fawr river, numerous
landscaping features and the segregation of various soil types
for restoration purposes.
- The
capping of 2 disused mineshafts.

Drainage on the tip featuring lined ditches, channels and culverts,
settlement
ponds and access tracks, weirs, cascades and masonry works.
